This page is a statement of the aims, principles, and strategies for provision for children with Special Educational Needs at Daven Primary School. The special educational provision means: for children of two or over, an educational provision that is additional to, or otherwise different from, the educational provision made generally for children of their age in schools maintained by the LEA, other than special schools in the area. 

LEA guidelines and the DfES SEN Code of Practice have been taken into consideration in the formulation of this policy.

This document provides a framework for the identification and provision for children with special educational needs. It is written for the benefit of all members of the school community, to ensure that all are aware of the principles underlying identification and provision and confidently committed to the agreed strategies. 

Aims 

Our aims for SEN are to: 

• Identify all children who need special consideration to support their physical, social, emotional or intellectual development 
• Ensure that these children are given appropriate support to allow every child full access to the National Curriculum in a positive framework 
• Ensure that these children are fully included in all activities of the school 
• Involve parents in developing a partnership of support, enabling them to have full confidence in the strategy adopted by the school.
