Learning within the classroom
This year we will have Mrs Thomason supporting us within the classroom. Other members of staff will support the children through interventions. Mrs Aartse-Tuyn will teach PSHCE (Jigsaw).
Our topics this term are:
English – We will be basing our work around the text ‘The Rhythm of the Rain’ written by Grahame Baker-Smith
Maths – We will be looking closely at Multiplication and division facts, problem solving with money, charts, length and fractions using power Maths.
Science – Our topic for this half term the ‘Human body’ and ‘Healthy eating’
History and Geography – Ancient Greece
PE
Our PE day is Tuesday morning each week and is provided by Sportscape. Please ensure that children come to school in their PE kit that day.
Homework
In Year 3, the children should be reading every night. Written homework will go out on a Monday and will be handed in by Friday. In each piece of homework, there will be spellings practice. It is really important that the children learn their spellings as they will be tested on them every Friday. They will also have a Maths task to complete. If children do not hand their homework in on a Friday then they will be expected to complete it in their lunch break.
The children should also access the following websites / apps:
Times Tables Rock Stars
RMEasiMaths
ActiveLearn
Sirlinkalot – Username: Daven Password: P7THJ6VYMW3
Fit Friday
Every Friday, we partake in Fit Friday. This encourages the children to engage in a healthy lifestyle by making healthy food choices and exercising. This year every Friday, children are able to come to school in PE KITS (not their own sportswear). Children who bring a lunch from home will need to have healthy food options, avoiding foods like crisps, chocolate, sweets, etc. We will also partake in a sporting activity in the afternoon.
Uniform
Please familiarise yourselves with our uniform policy. This consists of black shoes (not trainers), black or grey trousers / skirts, a blue or green polo top, a navy jumper or cardigan with or without the school logo. If children have their ears pierced, they must be studs only and need to be removed for PE. Hair dye that is of an unnatural colour is not part of our uniform policy.
E-Safety
As a parent or carer, you can play a key role in helping your child to stay safe online. Take a look at these resources on how you can support your child to use the internet safely, responsibility and positively.
