The Learning for Life Proud to be part of The Learning for Life

Year 2

Autumn Term

In English we have been looking at Little Red Riding Hood. We have been writing instructions about how to catch the Big Bad Wolf. Next we will be writing a diary and our own versions of Little Red Riding Hood.

In Maths, we are learning to add and subtract. We have practiced how to count in 10s and now we will be practicing counting in 2s and 5s.

In Science, we are learning all about different materials, their properties and what they are used for. Year 2 have thought of some fantastic questions they want to research.

In Geography, our question is 'What would Little Red Riding Hood find interesting about our town?' We have started by looking at a map of the UK, the human and physical features of Congleton and different types of houses.

In Art, we are recreating artwork based on the work of Paul Klee, using different tints and shades of colour.

PE is on a Monday. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate PE kit for the weather.

In the front of your child's reading record there is a list of words that children in year 2 must be able to read and spell. Please practice reading and spelling these with your child.

In your child's reading record, you will also find their log in details for RMEasimaths.

Your child will be sent home with two reading books, which will be changed on a Friday. When they read 5 times at home they move up the reading rainbow. Once your child reaches the top of the reading rainbow they will receive a certificate.
