Article 12 Squad

Our 'Article 12 Squad' is a group of Year 1 - 6 pupils who have been elected by their class to represent their views and opinions concerning a wide range of school issues. Our pupils know that they have a voice which must be listened to by the adults within our school and can influence our decision making within the school.

They are known as the 'Article 12 Squad' as it is a reminder of Article 12 which states:

"Article 12 - You have the right to give your opinion, and for adults to listen and take it seriously".

Our pupils have also learnt to use their voices to influence more global issues such as 'Plastic Pollution' and as a result are working towards achieving the 'Plastic Free School' Award. They have written challenging letters to our Prime Minister and local businesses. They have also raised the issue of Refugees and the right of children to be re-united with their families. They wrote to their local MP Fiona Bruce raising their concerns and recieved a reply.

At Daven our pupils know that they can influence and change the decisions being made about their world they are growing up in whether it is locally, nationally or internationally. They are becoming global citizens who care about justice and fairness for all children around the world.
